Departure in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu

Day 1: Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu to Rougemont, via Chambly (42 km)

Begin your day on the bike path that runs alongside the Richelieu River and the Chambly Canal. Enjoy magnificent views along the way and observe the multitude of birds that inhabit the area. Take a break at the historic locks and watch the boats pass through. Once in Chambly, take the opportunity to grab a bite to eat. You’ll also be close to a must-see attraction, the Fort Chambly National Historic Site. Afterward, take the Route des Champs bike path, rural life is on display in the surrounding fields and woods. The Route des Champs bike path is particularly beautiful in spring with the apple trees in bloom.

Day 2: Rougemont to Granby (32 or 42 km)

Head back onto the Route des Champs, surrounded by orchards and vineyards. The agricultural landscape gently unfolds before you: crop rows, vegetable crops, small farms, and sweeping views of the Monteregian Hills. It is a unique way to immerse yourself in Montérégie’s bountiful nature and discover its local flavors. As you approach Granby, the scenery gradually shifts: rural spaces give way to a city renowned for its cycling network. Take the opportunity to ride around Lake Boivin, a peaceful and charming 10 km extension that perfectly rounds off this second day.

Day 3: L’Estriade Loop (54 km)

Cycle the L’Estriade loop, from Granby to Waterloo, then to Yamaska National Park. The first few kilometers follow Lake Boivin, a body of water that flows through the city of Granby. The landscapes alternate between dense forests and agricultural fields. Breaks in the trees provide views of Mounts Shefford and Brome. Discover several rest areas adorned with works of art. In Bromont, leave L’Estriade to visit Old Bromont. You’ll add a few kilometers to your journey, but the detour is worth it. Pass through Waterloo with its superb facilities for cyclists. You’ll also ride alongside the Yamaska River, where magnificent agricultural landscapes unfold.

Day 4: Granby to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, via Farnham (50 km)

Take the Montérégiade bike path, which is part of the Route Verte and the Trans Canada Trail. It takes you into the heart of nature, through woods and fields, in a region where agri-food reigns supreme. You’ll pass through the town of Farnham, a perfect place to refuel and discover local flavors.
