“Zen People”

Even if cyclists do not represent a very large part of its clientele, Jean-Sébastien Pagé, the hotel manager, wishes to see this market grow.

“It’s a great clientele. They are zen people, not too stressed most of the time,” he analyzes. “They are often retirees.”

“The hotel is really well located for cyclists, because the bike path passes not far in front.”

He says he is satisfied with the partnership with the Voyager à vélo team, which regularly brings him cyclists. “We work hand in hand with the people of this company,” summarizes the businessman.

The hotel staff takes care of small attentions that can make a difference, adds Mr. Pagé. “When the luggage arrives, for example, we will take it up to the client’s room,” he says proudly.

Mr. Pagé proudly notes the hotel staff’s dedication to small, impactful gestures. “For example, when luggage arrives, we ensure it’s delivered directly to the client’s room.”

“Upon arrival, guests will find their belongings already in their room, eliminating the need to unpack after a day of cycling. They can simply relax and enjoy their stay. We also offer luggage storage if needed. This personalized service is a key benefit of our small hotel; we value our close relationship with guests. Our aim is lasting satisfaction, not fleeting trends.”

A Bike-Friendly Neighborhood

Hôtel des Coutellier is located in a cycling-friendly neighborhood and offers secure overnight bike storage for guests. For those who prefer not to travel with their own bicycles, Cyclo Services, a nearby business, provides bike rentals.

“We are a stone’s throw from the Gare du Palais. What we regularly see are cyclists who will leave Montreal by bike to Quebec and return home by train,” he affirms.

A 4th Star

Hôtel des Coutellier officially opened its doors on September 1, 2000. Ten years later, the establishment obtained its 4th star.

In June 2014, the restaurant Légende par la Tanière, which has just received its first Michelin star, was welcomed.

From 2022 to 2025, major works were undertaken on all facades of the historic building. The red brick was restored to its natural state and the building’s former luster was regained.
