The Niagara region in Ontario is much more than majestic world-renowned falls, a honeymoon destination and entertainment tourist attractions for the whole family.

You should also go there to ride on long bike paths, allowing you to renew the diverse landscapes with each kilometre.

Imagine, the Greater Niagara Circle Route is 140 kilometres to pedal, on different segments, sometimes on the edge of the great lakes, sometimes near orchards or carefully arranged estates.

Impossible to get bored.

The proposed routes are suitable for all legs; for contemplative or more athletic cyclists.

They are as flowery as can be and well maintained.

Ideal for after-biking

Speaking of flowers, one cannot think of this region without mentioning the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. What a pleasant town, one of the most beautiful in Canada.

A human-scale agglomeration located on the north-eastern tip of the region has managed to develop a peaceful and festive style at the same time. Queen Street, with its restaurants and bars, knows how to satisfy a clientele looking for places to have a good time with family or friends. Ideal for after-biking.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is certainly the jewel of this tourist region.

It is precisely from there that you can get on your bike to ride on the Niagara River Recreational Trail. Over 56 kilometres, you discover an asphalted route south towards Fort Erie, along the lake of the same name.

Following the Niagara River, you will arrive where it meets the immense falls that bear its name. Many viewpoints allow you to admire this spectacle from different angles. A stop is essential. It’s time to immortalize the moment.

Nothing is more impressive than the power of the water falling several tens of meters and forming a cloud of mist that caresses your skin.

A stone’s throw away, you can easily access restaurants, hotels and many entertainments such as casinos in Niagara Falls.

Heart Stopping

While riding, it is easy to be impressed by the many breathtaking panoramas that the Niagara River presents along the entire route. Often the river flows dozens of meters below. Enough to make you dizzy!

More curious cyclists will want to take a look at the prestigious houses that can be admired along the bike path; Estates some more impressive than the others. They often hide vineyards with great wines.

The trail also runs along many noteworthy buildings. For example, the Butterfly Conservatory was selected by the jury of the 2020 20th Century Award from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the National Trust for Canada to receive the 20th Century Award of Excellence.

This structural beauty of creativity and efficiency houses the largest of its kind in North America. This glass greenhouse houses more than 2000 free-flying butterflies, many of which are imported from tropical regions. The others are raised on site, it is indicated.

The bike path also takes us to the Niagara Parks Power Station. It is possible to visit the first major power station on the Canadian side of the Niagara River through immersive exhibits, restored artifacts and interactive stories.
