Nothing is left to chance when it comes to the reliability of the fleet. The goal is to ensure a worry-free cycling experience, whether you’re exploring Québec or Ontario.
“Imagine a group of four cyclists riding together. If one bike breaks down, the entire group is affected. In the end, all four cyclists are delayed, not just the person whose bike has the mechanical problem,” explains Mario Belley, President of Voyager à vélo.
“Before every rental, we take each bike on a road test to make sure our customers are heading out with a bicycle that’s perfectly prepared.”
Before departure, every bike is adjusted to fit the rider, ensuring maximum comfort throughout the journey.
Maintenance is meticulous and preventive. When a bike is returned, it is thoroughly cleaned and inspected. The drivetrain, derailleurs, and chain are all checked before it goes back into service.
“We don’t wait for something to break,” says Belley.
75 bicycles
Voyager à vélo currently operates a fleet of 75 bicycles and expects to add about 20 more in the coming weeks.
Nearly half of the fleet now consists of electric bikes.
“The demand keeps growing. Many customers still want traditional bicycles, but we’re seeing more and more requests for e-bikes,” he says.
“Many clients would prefer to ride their own bikes, but that’s not always practical when they’re flying in from another country. Others travel by train between Montréal and Toronto and need bicycles to complete their trip and return to their starting point—all without having to use a car.”
Unlike most rental services, Voyager à vélo rents bicycles by the tour rather than by the hour or by the day.
The rental service allows cyclists to explore a variety of routes across Québec and Ontario while enjoying scenic countryside landscapes.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable ride, every rental bike comes fully equipped with two panniers (including one 23-litre bag), a lock, a mini pump, two tire levers, and a spare inner tube.
Electric bikes also include a battery charger.
Own helmet
Cyclists are encouraged to bring their own helmet, although helmets are available for rent if needed.
For many travellers, renting a bicycle is also the easiest way to discover a new region without the hassle of transporting a personal bike. Whether planning a weekend getaway or a week-long adventure, cyclists can pick up their bicycle at the starting point of their itinerary and simply enjoy the ride.
This option is ideal for visitors travelling from outside Québec, as well as for cyclists who want to complete a one-way route without having to return to their starting point with their own equipment.
